Skin Cancer

Skin cancer is developed due to the abnormal or malignant growth of the skin cells. It is the most common type of cancer. It is mostly developed because of the exposure of ultraviolet rays from the sun. High exposure of sun rays is also one of the reasons for this type of cancer. Most of the skin cancers are visible because they will develop on the outer layer or protective layer of the skin. Since they are visible it is easy to detect in early stages. The layers which are not exposed to sun rays may also be affected by skin cancer. The skin cancer is the most prevalent type of cancer and it affects the cell present in the outer layer.

The people who take sunbath can be easily affected by skin cancer. According to the recent estimation more than one million people in America are affected by skin cancer. It is the fast growing cancer compared to the other types. Skin cancer includes Brest cancer, prostate cancer, etc. It is mostly diagnosed in United Kingdom. More than one million people are affected by skin cancer in U.S. per year.

Skin Cancer Types

The name of the common three types of skin cancer is followed by the cells present in the outer layer. The name of the skin cancers are basal cell cancer, squamous, melanoma. The basal and most of the squamous can be treated in the earlier stage if they are found, but melanoma is the most serious type and it will affect the part very deep and it is very difficult to treat. Squamous can also penetrate very deep into the skin.

Factors That Affect Skin Cancer

The exposure of ultraviolet rays from the sun is the major reason for skin cancer. The ultraviolet rays are divided into ultraviolet A and ultraviolet B. The ultraviolet B rays affect the skin of the people during sun bath and it is responsible for sunburn and it leads to basal cell and squamous cell cancer. Any injury or burned skin may also be affected by UV and leads to skin cancer. The people who have fair skin can also be affected by this type of disease. The other factor responsible for skin cancer are heredity, exposure of toxic chemicals, and the people who have number of moles may also be affected by skin cancer.

Laser Treatment

A beam of light is made to pass through the layer for removing the cancer cells. While handling this treatment there will be a small swelling, scrapping, bleeding in the affected area.

Chemotherapy

This is same as biological therapy. In this, drugs are used to kill the cancer cells and the lotion containing anti-cancer agent are applied on the outer layer as a treatment.
